Chinese New Year
Despite the snow and delays, Pre-K was able to have Ms. Lee visit our class and share information about Chinese New Year. Our class had been exploring the traditions associated with Chinese New Year through a themed project.
It was very exciting to see pictures and hear about how our Marvin friends celebrate the holiday. The students heard two Chinese folk stories. They were very excited when they each received a red envelope and traditional orange candy.
Later, during centers the student cut out and stamped make believe money to put in our envelopes. The Pre-K students were also thrilled when the Chinese Immersion class came through our room and did a lion dance complete with drum work. Later we made dragon puppets and danced around the room to Chinese Drum music.
