SAVE Hosts CBCC Blood Drive
The CHS SAVE Club along with adviser Leah Ross hosted a blood drive through the Community Blood Center of the Carolinas on February 27. According to the CBCC website, ‘When you donate with the Community Blood Center, you are impacting local patients and hospitals in a big way. You are saving lives. But the impact doesn’t stop there – donors and sponsors are also impacted by blood donation. Giving the gift of life brings joy to the givers as well as the receivers.’
Students, staff and community were invited to sign up to donate blood. Donors received t-shirts that read “Today I Changed the World.”
The drive happened to fall on a school day with a two hour delay due to inclement weather!
"Considering all the obstacles we faced with the shortened day and students needing to be in class, we did great. I am really proud of the CHS community coming together to save lives," said Ms. Ross.
The CBCC website states, ‘CBCC's mission is to be the steward of a community resource; life-saving blood. CBCC collects blood from the community to return it to the community at the lowest possible cost, consistent with the highest standards of quality.’
Fifty usable pints were collected at the drive. Thanks to all the donors!
