Four make-up days waived by Board of Education on March 10

The state requires that students have a minimum of 185 days or 1,025 hours of instruction.

 At the March 10 meeting, the Union County Board of Education voted to waive four make-up days for school closures related to severe weather.

School was closed for students on Feb. 17, 18 and 24. The BOE waived the make-up days for Feb. 18 and 24.

March 6 was the make-up day for schools on the traditional and Early College calendars and March 16 will be the make-up day for schools on the year-round calendar.

If more days are missed due to severe weather, two additional days are already waived.

The state requires that students have a minimum of 185 days or 1,025 hours of instruction.

Union County Public Schools has sufficient hours in the 2014-15 calendar to meet state requirements.
