Jason Marton selected by Board of Ed. to represent District 6
At the March 10 meeting, the Union County Board of Education selected Jason Marton to represent District 6.
The district was previously represented by Marce Savage, who resigned on Jan. 31, 2015.
Eleven applicants sent in letters and resumes to apply for the position on the Board of Education.
Marton is the director of Advisory Services with RGP of Charlotte. He has been a management consultant for 16 years.
In his application, Marton said he wanted to ensure the school board’s focus always remained on the students and teachers, and that this is accomplished by working, communicating and engaging with the community.
He said being chosen isn’t just about representing District 6, it’s about working to ensure that Union County Public Schools is “great for every student and every school.”
Pursuant to Board of Education policy, vacancies during the term of office shall be filled by appointment by the remaining members. The appointed member shall serve until the next election at which time the remaining unexpired term shall be filled.
The Board of Education asked interested persons to submit a letter of interest and a resume containing information including name, address, prior community involvement and why the individual is interested in serving on the Board of Education. Applicants had to reside in District 6.
Mr. Marton will be sworn in at the April 14 Board of Education meeting.
