Fourth Grade Students Support Union County Homeless Shelter
When asked how the project helped them to learn about this particular social issue, fourth grader Aaron Lickliter stated, "It made me feel sad for the homeless people because they don't have anything near what I have. It also made me feel grateful for all the things I have. I have learned that I should donate things more to the less fortunate." Abigail Kinley, a 4th grader in Mrs. Morris' class, replied, "I learned that they don't have what we have and it is good for us to give back."
The 4th graders were able to deliver 80 complete hygiene kits to the Union County Homeless Shelter in Monroe, NC. The kits were such a welcome gift to the center that many of the volunteers there couldn't believe just one grade level was able to donate that many kits!
