The CHS Blue Note Winds concert band, under the direction of Band Director Todd Ebert, recently performed at the 24th Annual Music for All National Festival in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The CHS Blue Note Winds concert band, under the direction of Band Director Todd Ebert, recently performed at the 24th Annual Music for All National Festival presented by Yamaha, one of the most prestigious festivals for instrumental music ensembles in the United States. It was held March 12-14 in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Blue Note Winds were one of sixteen ensembles selected to perform on the Festival’s featured stage by a panel of esteemed music education professionals from across the country.

In addition to their featured stage performance, the ensemble participated in a clinic with Festival clinician Professor Anthony Maiello of the George Mason University School of Music, who referred to the Cuthbertson ensemble’s performance as “superhuman.” Students also participated in Master Classes specific to their instrument, taught by renowned musicians and educators from across the country, and observed the performances of several other featured ensembles.

Five Cuthbertson students auditioned for, and were selected to join, the 2015 Honor Band of America: Philips Clarke, Patrick Foray, Ben Laramee, Garrett McCloskey and Kevin Moranski. These students participated in over 20 hours of additional rehearsal time with guest conductor Kevin Sedatole, Professor of Music, Michigan State University College of Music. The National Honor Band capped the 2015 Festival with a performance for over 2,000 Festival attendees on the final evening of the event.

Music for All is one of the nation’s largest and most influential organizations advocating in support of music education. The National Festival comprises the National Concert Band Festival, Sandy Feldstein National Percussion Festival, Middle School National Music Festival, Chamber Music National Festival and three national honor ensembles: the Honor Band of America, the Jazz Band of America, and the Honor Orchestra of America.
