BHESA Tigers are on the run
Meet our Spring 2015 team, Allie, Issys, Adeline, Isabella, Brianna, Estephania and Jazmine. The team has been working hard training for our 5k, even though the weather has not cooperated. We have also been working on self esteem, eating healthy and the importance of exercise.
This picture was taken during our lesson on negative thoughts. Prior to our warm-up we discussed positive and negative thoughts and how they can affect us daily. We made cards of our negative thoughts and positive thoughts. During our warm-up runs we ran to the gobble-box and dropped our negative thoughts inside, trying to rid ourselves of them permanently. After our run we discussed our positive thoughts.
Girls on the Run is a transformational physical activity based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd-8th grade. We teach life skills through dynamic interactive lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5k running event. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness.
