AIG Students Study Global Current Events
This year at Wingate, the fourth and fifth grade AIG reading clusters have studied current events across the world. Every two weeks, students choose an article from an online source or a national newspaper. The goal of this assignment is for students to learn about reputable sources, as well as important world issues. Students are expected to write a summary and reflect on the article using a graphic organizer. This assignment supports informational reading standards and incorporates our county goals of global learning. Students have researched a variety of current events from around the world including: Immigration, the effects of Ebola, and global warming. Through these assignments, students have been empowered to become critical thinkers and more informed citizens. Keep up the great work!
