CATA's Talent Raises Funds for Safe Alliance
On Friday, March 27th CATA's National Honor Society chapter sponsored their first "CATA's Got Talent" competition. Students were invited to sign up to perform an act and then the audience would vote for their favorite.
Twelve acts took the stage Friday and the talent ranged from Martin Marban's stand-up act to a number of singers. Abril Ruiz-Lopez performed with a violin/fiddle trio and Priyanka Lala entertained the audience with a Bollywood dance number.
After each act, NHS members would canvas the audience and collect tickets which were purchased at the beginning of the show. Each ticket counted as one vote and the votes were tallied after each act. At the end of the show, the NHS members stood at the front of the auditorium with their signs indicating which act they were collecting tickets for and a final count was taken.
While the NHS students and advisors were counting the tickets, Cynthia Hinson, an EC teacher at CATA, performed Adele's Someone Like You. The emcee announced that freshman Bryanna Sniatecki had won the show with her vocal and acoustic guitar performance.
The National Honor Society raised $491.00 for Safe Alliance, a local organization that assists over 3,000 people in the county each year. For more information about Safe Alliance, please visit their website.
