Battle Of the Books
The Elementary Battle of the Books team took second place in the district competition. This year there were 12 schools who participated and our team did an outstanding job. Congratulations to all!
The Battle of the Books program is open to all 4th and 5th grade students. Students read 18 books from the Battle of the Books list and meet once a week to discuss the books and prepare to answer questions related to the stories. The meetings start in October and conclude in March with the district competition where schools from around the district compete to see who has the most knowledge about the books. This is a great opportunity for kids to read, meet new people, and be a part of a team. If you have a rising 4th or 5th grade student please consider the Elementary Battle of the Books team for next year. We will have an informational meeting for parents and students on April 21st from 6:00-6:30 in the media center. If you would like to see what books are on the list for next year go to Mrs. Gerrish’s web site (under the media center link on Marvin’s homepage) and click the ‘Battle of the Books’ tab. The book list for the middle school Battle of the Books club is also posted. Happy reading!
