PRHS Students Share Books with Sardis

PRHS FBLA students read books to Sardis Kindergarteners.

Thursday, April 1, 2015 was an exciting day at Sardis Elementary School.  The school was happy to host the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) class from Porter Ridge High School (PRHS).  The purpose of the visit was for the high school students to share books that they had collected for the elementary school students.  The FBLA students worked together to collect over 150 books as a community service project.  These new and gently used books have been donated to the school to support reading and literacy.  The high school students also spent time visiting each class to share their experiences as readers and to read aloud some of their favorite picture books.  The elementary school students enjoyed the interaction with the older students, and the high school students were able to serve as positive role models for them.  The support from PRHS was greatly appreciated by the elementary school teachers and students.  The hope is to continue this partnership in the future.
