FHHS Student Council Recognized at Convention

The delegation from Forest Hills to the 2015 NC Association of Student Councils Convention in Fayetteville. The FHHS Student Council was one of only 17 Honor Councils designated in the state.

A few weekends ago, a group of Student Leaders from Forest Hills Student Council went to the North Carolina Association of Student Councils Convention (NCASC). The convention was held at Pine Forest High School which is located in Fayetteville. The goal of the convention is to recognize schools for all the hard work they have done and share ideas.

The weekend was jam packed! As a whole, student leaders did community service projects that included making jump ropes out of plastic bags. The jump ropes we made were being sent to Africa so that kids could have simple toys made by other kids. On Saturday, four workshops were held. These workshops build us up as a whole, enhancing our leadership qualities. The convention also had competitions which involved a few of our very own Yellow Jackets.

Jamaria Sanders sang in the talent show Friday night singing “Hope” by Emeli Sande. Although this was a non-competitive show, Jamaria completely won the crowd. On Saturday, we had Riley Hovick in a Oratory Contest taking second place! Finally, we had Lauren Salem running for Western District Vice Chair.

Forest Hills inducted five students into the 2015-2016 Student Council Hall of Fame. they were: Caroline Bradley, Shelby Benton, Amanda Miller, Jamaria Sanders, and Jesse Helms. Forest Hills was one of 17 schools in the state to take home the Louis Howard Honor Council Award. Our student council represented Forest Hills incredibly well, and they are ready for the next NCASC State Convention!
