AFJROTC Exceeds National Standards
The Piedmont High School Air Force Junior ROTC instructors and the cadets of Piedmont and Porter Ridge High Schools earned an overall unit assessment score of “Exceeds Standards” (the highest rating attainable) during their rated Air Force unit evaluation on 5 March 2015. The assessment is evidence that the ROTC is fulfilling their goal of instilling in high school cadets the values of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment.
Captain Louis Werder and Chief Master Sergeant Dwight Holmes create a dynamic and supportive learning environment coupled with an excellent community outreach. The instructors provide outstanding leadership in administering a cadet-centered citizenship program. During the assessment, all cadets performed exceptionally well and took great pride in leading and accomplishing their unit goals. According to Cadet Airman Bryan Scarborough, “We received the 'Exceeds Standards' designation because we are simply the best!”
The Porter Ridge ROTC cadets travel daily from their home school to receive training and instruction in preparation for this annual assessment. As Cadet Captain Casey Levin noted, "Every cadet in NC-955 worked together to perform our best to receive exceeding standards for our unit. We could not have done it without our instructors, our cadet officers, and our cadet enlisted. We are proud to have exceeded national standards and have been awarded 'Distinguished Unit' for the last eleven years. We'll continue to work hard for years to come."
The Piedmont and Porter Ridge High School Air Force Junior ROTC citizenship programs are making a positive impact on the cadets, the school, and community. Congratulations to the Air Force Junior ROTC cadets for representing Piedmont well!
