Mrs. Hancock takes top honors at the Ready, Set, Read Pep Rally!
Our kindergarten, first, second, third, and fourth graders had lots of fun at the Ready, Set, Read (RSR) pep rally in the gym. All of the kids came in wearing their “I Love Reading” glasses and stickers. Coach Mac told the students all about the prizes for reading over the summer. This year we even added a 100-hour club! The RSR student packets are being sent home today and pledge cards are due back by Friday, May 15.
Thanks to all of the teachers who told us a little bit about their favorite book and participated in the balancing book race. In the first heat we had Mrs. Hancock, Mrs. Menkin, Ms. K, and Mrs. Reich. And in the second heat we had Mrs. McConnell, Mrs. Harris, Mrs. Gerrish, and Mr. Peck. The final race was between Mrs. Harris and Mrs. Hancock. It was a close one but Mrs. Hancock won! She got a new lap desk with light – one of the prizes that was added this year for the 100-hour club.
The students are only collecting pledges now. They don’t start recording their reading until the last day of school. PTO will be hosting a Read-In Day on Wednesday, June 10 (the last day of school) to kick off their summer reading.
