Spanish Classes Visit Latin Festival

CHS freshmen Samantha Spinner and Addie Nemitz enjoy sampling Mexican food!

Ms. Stacie Thompson’s and Ms. Janeva Bailey’s Spanish classes traveled to Hickory, North Carolina for a Latin Festival Dance Performance recently. At the Latin Festival, the students learned about Latin dances from around the world and watched professional performances. They learned about dances including the salsa, mambo, merengue, bachata, and many more.

Part of the trip also included an authentic lunch. The students went to Zapatas Mexican Restaurant afterwards, to taste all the different types of Mexican food.

“The performance was an amazing experience and really taught me a lot about Hispanic traditions of dance. The food at the restaurant was delicious and gave me a good taste of well known Mexican food,” said sophomore Joe Salicco.
