Last month, a group of Parkwood students attended a luncheon hosted by the World Affairs Council of Charlotte. The students in attendance were a combination of Mr. Andrew Starnes’ Current Events and American History courses. They had the opportunity to meet the current Irish Ambassador to the United States, Anne Anderson. Anderson spoke on many topics during the luncheon including what it means to be globally responsible. She spoke directly to Parkwood’s students, before lunch, concerning shrinking borders and how now, more than ever, young people need to be involved in world politics. Parkwood students represented one of only two schools in attendance for the event.  “This was a great experience, I am thankful for having the opportunity to meet a world leader!” said Parkwood senior, Morgan McAllister.
