First Grade Poets
First grade has been busy studying poetry! Students have learned to see objects through a poet’s eye by using their senses. Ordinary everyday objects have been described in a whole new light! This experience has allowed students to really tap into their creative side. Poetry goes beyond rhyming words, it depicts mood and out of the box thinking! Globalization has been incorporated by sharing poetry around the world. Students have studied Haiku poems that originated in Japan and Limericks that evolved in Ireland. This poetry unit has taught students a new ingenious style of reading and writing.
