Second Grade's Butterfly Life Cycle Unit
The second grade classes learned about the butterfly life cycle during the months of April and May.
The students were able to observe each stage of the life cycle, from caterpillar to chrysalis to butterfly.
During the unit, students kept a daily journal that included observations and notes about their caterpillar. They learned about how a caterpillar forms a chrysalis and how it goes through metamorphosis and emerges as a butterfly.
The students really enjoyed watching the butterflies eat using their proboscis!
On Friday, May 22 the second grade classes released the butterflies. They were able to watch the butterflies fly away and find their new home.
