Kindergarten Leadership Class of 2027

On June 8th, 2015 the kindergarten students received their diploma after they performed songs about leadership.    The ceremony began when Brianna Martin, one of our fifth grade leaders welcomed everyone to the ceremony.  The kindergarten students sang several songs for family and friends.  Rocky River students have been using the 7 habits this year and learning about what it takes to be a leader.

Habit 1- Be Proactive

Habit 2- Start with the End in Mind

Habit 3-Put First Things First

Habit 4- Think Win-Win

Habit 5-Seek first to Understand, then to be Understood

Habit 6- Synergize

Habit 7- Sharpen the Saw

They started with Grand Old Flag.  The next songs shared were about the 7 habits.  The Leader in Me song, Sharpening the Saw in Summer, One Small Voice and Here We Come First Grade were the other songs.

Brianne did a great job introducing the songs using her leadership skills. The kindergarten students used sign language, Swahili and Spanish during the performance.  Each class had prepared a portion of a video about 7 habits in kindergarten for parents to view as the program came to an end.  Students returned to their individual classrooms where they received their diplomas.

This is what some students had to say about their year in kindergarten.

Arianna said, “The singing was special.”

Sierra said, “Kindergarten is fun.  The teachers are nice.”

Brody said, “Recess and the slides were the best.”

Aidan said, “Reading and recess topped his list.”

Jayden and Elian said, “Computers and books were the best.”  “The program was fun.  I liked the song When I Lead and One Small Voice.”  "When I lead, When I lead, You’re gonna love me when I lead........I'm gonna be in charge of me."

Hunter said, “Coloring was the best.”

Everyone agreed kindergarten was awesome.
