Shiloh’s Summer Reading Challenge
Dear Shiloh Families,
I hope that you are all having a great start to your summer break, and I hope that all Shiloh students are continuing to read over summer break! In order to encourage reading over summer break, we are offering a new reading challenge for students in grades 3, 4, and 5. During the last week of school, students were given a note to bring home about the challenge on a pink sheet of paper. On the back of the letter was the list of books that the students should read for the reading challenge. Remember, this reading challenge will not only take place over the summer, but will continue through the next school year. In order to encourage the students to read the books on the list, we have created several prize categories. A copy of this letter and the book list is available on our media center website at https://sites.google.com/a/ucps.k12.nc.us/shes_j-klutz/.
Also, for any students that are interested in reading every book on the list and participating in an after school club on Monday afternoons, Elementary Battle of the Books will be coming to our school next year! This club is only for rising 4th and 5th graders, and the club meetings will start shortly after Thanksgiving break. More information will go home about Elementary Battle of the Books in the fall. For now, just focus on reading all of the books on the challenge list! Happy Reading!
