Sardis Elementary School Welcomes a New Assistant Principal
The Sardis Elementary School faculty and staff are happy to welcome Mr. Kevin Beals to the school’s community. Mr. Beals will be serving Sardis as Assistant Principal and is the Special Needs Administrator (SNA) for the school. He is replacing Mrs. Kelley Zorn who left Union County Public Schools (UCPS) at the end of the last school year.
Mr. Beals received his undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of New Hampshire, and his Master's degree in Teaching Mathematics from Rivier College. Mr. Beals began his teaching career in New Hampshire, where he worked in the Special Education program for five years, taught science for one year, and then taught middle school math for five years. In addition, he coached baseball and basketball at the middle and high school levels for more than ten years. In 2006, Mr. Beals and his family moved to North Carolina and UCPS. For the next nine years, Sun Valley Middle School was his home. He spent five years teaching math in seventh and eighth grades before earning licensure in school administration from Wingate University. He then smoothly transitioned into his role as Assistant Principal at SVMS.
Mr. Beals and his wife have three children. They currently reside in Waxhaw and enjoy spending time as a family. They can often be found at the baseball field or on the basketball court, where Mr. Beals volunteers his time as a coach. Mr. Beals is excited about transitioning to elementary school and looks forward to working with the students, parents, teachers and staff of Sardis Elementary School.
