Sardis Summer Reading Camp Sparks a Love for Reading
This summer, rising second and third graders are taking a break from the pool, vacation trips and sleeping late to come to Sardis' Reading Camp. The four week camp is designed to be a fun way to help students keep up with those important reading skills. Students are engaged in reading strategies, writing skills and word knowledge while at the same time having fun being with teachers and friends. The camp runs each morning on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays through the month of July and into August. Teachers are using a cafe' theme in which readers learn to choose strategies from a menu that builds comprehension and accuracy skills. The extra attention to reading this summer is sure to pay off. Research shows that students who maintain good reading habits tend to be successful in school, so if you're headed to the beach or the pool...don't forget to grab that book!
