Poplin Elementary School and PTA welcomed families and staff back for 2015-2016 school year during Open House on Thursday, August 20, 2015.

There are a few staff members new to the Poplin community this year.  Fedora Zelkowicz, will be a First Grade Teacher in the Splash Immersion Language program.  Zelkowicz has been living in the United States, but her home country is Venezuela.  Joining Fedora as a another First Grade teacher in the Splash program is Angela Larrota, who is from Columbia. And also from Columbia is Daisy Rueda who will be a Kindergarten teacher in the Splash program with Maria Darrigrande.  Natalie Patterson joins Poplin’s Exceptional Children’s Department.

Principal Scott Broome, who is Poplin’s biggest cheerleader, said he is looking forward to another successful school year.  Broome also wants to share Poplin’s updated Vision and Mission statements. The new Vision is to support our students as they, “Dream, Reach, Grow and Become.” The our updated Mission statement is, “We are committed to working collaboratively to ensure that every child can dream, reach, and grow in order to become a valuable member of society.”  Broome said, “We’ve always done both.  We’ve just put words to our collective actions as a staff.”
