Big changes, big hopes for 2015-2016

English teachers meet in Ms. Stegall's new Classroom of Tomorrow to discuss curriculum and plan for the coming year.

The 2015-2016 school year begins Monday, August 24th with students reporting to classes at PR at 8:00 a.m.  This year marks a special year for PR with its 10 year anniversary and many new and exciting changes.

Over the summer two Classrooms of Tomorrow were added: one in English and one in Science. These rooms include all new state-of-the-art equipment and furniture that allows students to learn in a collaborative and multi-functional environment that includes experiences that go beyond lecturing.

This year PR also has new faculty members, new courses, a new Athletic Director and many plans to provide learning and growth for students.  From extracurriculars to rigorous and personal learning in the classroom, students will have a variety of opportunities to succeed at PR.

When asked about the start of this school year, English teacher, Rachel Lukasik commented, "I am excited to see the students I had last year as they prepare to begin their senior year! Porter Ridge has really made me feel at home after my first year and I cannot thank the staff enough for their hospitality; the familiar faces are always great to see again."

As the year begins and learning starts, parents and students are invited to join and support the PR Pirates through athletic events, club events and volunteer opportunities.  Get involved and support your PR Pirates!
