Second Graders Use Recycled Materials
Second graders recently incorporated the arts into their study of environmental literacy. After collecting a variety of recyclable items, students worked in small groups within their classrooms to create artistic works in the spirit of Thornton Dial, a famous artist known worldwide for using recycled materials on a large scale.
This experience gave students the opportunity to apply their knowledge in an artistic, collaborative, and movement-oriented way. The second grade projects are currently on display in the school media center.
