New Century Scholars Fund Receives Donation
On Thursday September 10, 2015, the Union County Extension and Community Association held their Annual Achievement Day Celebration at the Union County Cooperative Extension. During the luncheon, the ECA donated $500 to the New Century Scholars fund. Allen Plyler, CTE Industry Coordinator, was on hand to receive the donation on behalf of the Union County JobReady Partnership and Union County Public Schools Career and Technical Education.
The Extension and Community Association is a volunteer organization that supports the mission of the Cooperative Extension and works closely with the Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Agent, Ms. Sally McNeil. In Union County, the ECA has three community clubs with a total of 33 members. Members meet monthly not only for fellowship, but to work on community service projects and to assist the Extension Agent in the support of individuals and families in the county.
We thank the Union County Extension and Community Association and its members for their dedication to helping students in Union County. With this donation, a student in Union County will have the opportunity to attend South Piedmont Community College for two years; paid for by the New Century Scholars program; an opportunity that the student may not have had otherwise.
