Monroe City and Union County Patriot Day Celebration
On the beautiful Sunday afternoon of September 13th downtown Monroe , three of our BHESA students joined with local service organizations and scores of family and friends to celebrate Patriot Day 2015. The President of the United States, Barack Obama declared that Sept. 11th- 13th 2015 be declared a celebration of memory for the nearly 3,000 people who lost their life in the tragedy of 9/11/2001.
Our students were invited to join local dignitaries at the Old Courthouse in Monroe in a program which included Fire Fighters, Police Officers and Rescue First Responders. Also attending were many elected local officials and church leaders joined by the CATA concert choir under the direction of Ms. Marty Gregory. Our students Celina Tovar, Jaquilynne Kirk and Isaiah Kennedy led the audience in the pledge of allegiance to the American Flag. “We strive for our students to learn about important events in history that changed our world and will impact their future also,” said Frank Casstevens Arts Coordinator at BHESA. May we never forget this day that shook the very core of our nation and brought such tragedy and grief to all of us.
