Fourth-grade students in Jennifer Bartlett’s class at Western Union Elementary School have entered the age of educational technology.

The students recently participated in a Skype video conference with fourth-grade students at Marvin Elementary.

After introducing themselves, students shared questions and ideas about the personality traits of characters from their favorite books.

“Students from both schools truly enjoyed communicating via conferencing and were fully engaged in this amazing learning experience,” said Shelly Bernabe, teacher assistant at Western Union Elementary.

In the future, Western Union Elementary fourth-grade students will participate in video conferencing with classes from two other schools in North Carolina: one on the coast and one in the mountains.

Students will discuss the various regions of North Carolina as they share topics and newly learned concepts from the NC Standard Course of Study.
