Hannah Potter, a senior at Forest Hills High School, came to talk to 2nd graders at Shiloh Elementary about Egypt.
Spanish teacher Mrs. Medina and 2nd grade teacher Mrs. McCann invited Hannah to speak about Egypt as part of Shiloh’s globalization program. Hannah went to Egypt with a scholarship she received from the U.S. Department of State. She talked to the students about her experience using pictures and artifacts. Hannah talked to the students about the culture, the type of food, the mummies, the camels, the pyramids, religion, family, and places she got to visit. Students were very attentive and asked many questions.
Hannah expressed at the end of her presentation:
“ I believe it is important for people to be aware of the world around them, and try to understand misconceptions that the may have about others.â€
Teachers and administrators at Shiloh Elementary are conscious that we are living in an increasingly globalized world, so exploring that world is important for our future people of America.
