A Class Favorite

Mr. Andrew Miness

If a student is asked to describe Mr. Andrew Miness, the response usually comes down to a few positive adjectives such as awesome, enthusiastic, and witty. Commonly referred to in conversation as “The Man,” most Weddington girls (and a few anonymous males) often mention his impeccable style and consider it to be “just adorable.” With his vast knowledge he keeps his students interested by relating today’s culture to the class subject, whether it be US history or AP Government. Group projects often consist of bringing humor and fun into the classroom, and when there is a suggestion to incorporate Jersey Shore into a government skit, he enthusiastically replies there is a definite way to “spin” any topic to show its correlation. In reflection of his popularity among the students, Mr. Miness was chosen by the seniors for the second year in a row to speak at graduation, and was awarded the title of Teacher of the Year for 2010. When asked what inspired him to teach, his response was that he “really liked Mr. Feeney on Boy Meets World.” In his personal life, he enjoys trying new foods and playing with his dog George. Most students also may not know that in his younger days, he “sported an earring and an eyebrow ring” for a period of time. Here are some more interesting facts about the well loved social studies teacher:
