Parkwood Science Students Excel in National Contest
Parkwood Middle School’s science students distinguished themselves in the 2010 National Science League Contest. The 7th and 8th grade team scored 17th out of 149 schools (top 11%), while the 6th grade team tallied 51st place out of 182 schools (top 28%). The states with the largest representation were Illinois, New Jersey, New York and Ohio.
Medalists for Parkwood were Calvin Newton scoring 44/50 (7-8 grade) and Andrew Wood, 36/40 (6th grade). The top ten scores at each grade level were submitted to get our ranking.
The National Science League has been offering these tests since 1981. The purpose of the contest is to supplement the school science program by interesting students in science through competition in a National Contest. Congratulations to Parkwood’s students and science staff in proving we can compete on a national level.
