My 5th Grade Experience

JT Ruhland, Kayla Bonilla and Oved Avita are now ready for the next chapter of their life - middle school.

My experience at Rocky River is one I'll never forget and one I'll miss as I leave elementary school. I've gone here for 3 glorious years. In 3rd, 4th and 5th grade.  I've met friends and teachers who are extraordinary. Anyone would be lucky to have a family like my Rocky River family.

When I was in 3rd grade, this school opened and I didn't know anyone in my class. But I was welcomed by my awesome teacher, Mr Dove.  I met a lot of new friends, teachers and entered clubs and entered contests.  I just kept my head up and accomplished a lot in my first year here at Rocky River.  In 4th grade, I had Mr. Santana.  He was a great and talented teacher who was like a second dad to me.  I'll never forget him or the friends that I made.  This is also the year that I accomplished a goal of coming in 2nd in the school Spelling Bee.

Now, I am in 5th grade and the wonderful Mrs. Shurley is my teacher.  5th grade has been one of the best years of my life.  I did many things this year like: Science Club, Science Fair, Media Guides D.A.R.E., and for the first time ever, 5th grade Band.  I am sad to see this all go but Middle School has more opportunities I look forward to seeing.

I'll miss Rocky River a LOT and I don't want to leave.  My experiences were great and nothing compares to the memories of Rocky River Elementary! - Kayla

"My favorite part of 5th grade is that I could feel my grades improving, " says Oved of Mr. Martins class.  "The pressure is hard but it was a wonderful experience.  Another thing that I really liked was the games and the Kickball tournament.  We lost but had a great time." His words of advice for the next class, "The 5th grade experience is wonderful but one you have to experience for yourself."

JT Ruhland, from Ms. Marshall's class, tells us that his favorite part of the 5th grade experience is "the friendships that I have made that I will never forget." He also tells us, " I have had a wonderful year at Rocky River.  Sadly, I must leave but I have made the best of my remaining days here.  I will use everything that Rocky River has taught me in Middle School.  The teacher and students have left a huge impact on me that I will remember forever."
