UCPS Exceptional Children’s Department Honors Retirees: Dr. Nancy Turner and Mrs. Phyllis Griffin

The Exceptional Children’s Department hosted a drop-in celebration honoring two of its retirees on Friday June 4, 2010. Held at the Professional Development Center, UCPS employees, friends, and family were able to visit with Dr. Nancy Turner, EC Director and Mrs. Phyllis Griffin, Lead EC Data Manager to share old stories, offer words of wisdom, and celebrate their retirements. Among the visitors were Dr. Ed Davis, Dr. Mary Ellis, Dr. John Jones, Dr. Mike Webb, several other Central Services staff members, school administrators, EC teachers, general education teachers, EC Central staff, and related service providers. The guests of honor were caught laughing, giving and receiving hugs, and celebrating this upcoming journey called retirement. Dr. Nancy Turner, who has been in education over 30 years as an EC teacher, assistant principal, principal and EC director, will soon begin her new job as and EC director in South Carolina. Mrs. Phyllis Griffin, who has worked with the county for over 30 years and who defined the Lead EC Data Manager position, will soon begin her retirement by simply enjoying some time off. UCPS wishes the two of them the best of luck on their new adventures. They will be missed by all who had the pleasure of working with them.
