Jessica Garner honored at Wachovia’s ATMs across state

North Carolina’s Teacher of the Year, Jessica Garner, is being honored by Wachovia Wells Fargo. Her face will be seen at most of its 627 ATMs across North Carolina.

North Carolina residents could see a lot more of Jessica Garner, North Carolina’s Teacher of the Year, as a national bank is placing her face at most of its 627 automatic teller machines across the state.

Wachovia Wells Fargo will display the screens featuring Garner until October. Some of the ATMs offer the option to learn more about Garner.

“At Wachovia Wells Fargo we’re committed to the communities we serve and we’re proud to feature Jessica,” said Kendall Alley, Community Banking regional president of the Charlotte Region for Wells Fargo in a press release. “Teachers are so important to our community—this is just one way we can recognize and honor one of our state’s best.”

Garner was named the 2009-2010 North Carolina AT&T Teacher of the Year in Raleigh on May 5, 2009, and serves as the voice of teachers across the state of North Carolina. She also serves as an advisor to the State Board of Education.

Garner is a 12-year veteran Spanish teacher, having spent the past five years at Porter Ridge High School in Indian Trail. This marks the first time in the history of the school system that a UCPS school teacher has taken the top state honor.garner with obama

Garner was recognized by President Obama at the White House on April 29, 2010, with the other state teachers of the year, including the Rock Hill, SC, engineering and computer programming teacher from North Western High School, Bryan Coburn, who was chosen as the South Carolina Teacher of the Year.
