CATA Blood Drive a Success
On May 20, 2010, CATA held it's second blood drive of the school year. The blood drive was organized by Mrs. Holeman's Advanced Studies in Medical Science senior students as their class project. The seniors handled all the details of the blood drive including recruiting donors, scheduling appointments, escorting donors to and from the blood drive, and assisting the Community Blood Center workers throughout the day.
Over 150 students, teachers, and parents registered to donate blood and successfully donated 98 pints of blood. Each pint is capable of saving up to three lives which means CATA donors helped to save 294 lives! The Community Blood Center utilizes all blood donations at local hospitals within the Charlotte area, so the blood donated may very well be helping someone you know and love!
Congratulations to the medical science seniors who helped ensure the success of the blood drive and to all those who registered to donate! And a special thank you to the Community Blood Center for serving our community!
