Life scout creates outdoor classroom

Benton Heights Elementary School of the Arts was a recent recipient of an Eagle Scout Leadership Project. Life Scout Luke Ferguson of Troop 55, also a former student of Benton Heights, designed and built an outdoor classroom in the front circle area of the school. Luke built 6 benches for students and a podium for the teacher. The project was designed to be a new, more interactive place for children to learn. Now students studying science can go outside to do experiments, and math lessons can be conducted away from the ordinary classroom setting. Webb Construction, Inc.,  Lowe's Home Improvement and BlueMax Materials donated time and materials to the project. The project was completed in late July, and will be in use throughout the school year.
