Meet Mrs. Griffin our NEW Music Teacher!
Deanie Griffin is starting her first year of teaching music at Fairview! Although it's her first year she has 27 years of teaching experience in NC public schools. She has taught middle school chorus and music for the last 22 years and is very excited to be back in elementary music. She was born and raised in Havelock, NC and graduated in 1984 from Meredith College, Raleigh, NC, with a K-12 Bachelor of Music degree. She lives in Concord with her two oldest granddaughters. Jewel, 6, is a first grader at Fairview, and Caroline, 4.5, will start kindergarten next fall. She is the mom of two grown, adopted daughters, Jenny and Ashley.
I have wanted to be a music teacher since I was 5 yrs old. I was completely enthralled with watching the pianist/organist at my church and the sounds the choir director got out of the people. I knew that's what I wanted to do.
I hope that during my time at Fairview that I can inspire my students to respect and appreciate all styles of music for the valid musical form that it is. I hope that my chorus students will develop a love for singing and continue to grow beautiful voices and will share their talents with others. All students can sing. Some do it better than others. That only happens from loving and practicing what you do.
