Second graders get excited about reading and science

Students drop parachutes from the top of the slide to see how quickly it will fall.

Second grade students in Mrs. Karen Pipes class have had a great start to the school year! The class had a special day to decorate reading journals. Students were able to personalize the journals with pictures, stickers, favorite book titles, and helpful hints to respond to their reading. Students are learning to write down their thoughts about what they are reading.

In science, students made parachutes to help them learn more about air and weather. They released the parachutes to observe how it falls slowly due to the air pushing against it. Air resistance slows the parachute down. It doesn't matter if they are in reading or science, whatever they are doing, they are having fun learning.
