Cavaliers Bring Warmth to CMC-Union Facility

Freshman Raygan Renner works on a cheerful rainbow in the Carolinas Medical Center.

Students in Ms. Leah Ross’ Parenting and Child Development and Apparel Development classes spent their Saturday recently in a waiting room “makeover project” at the Carolinas Medical Center in Monroe. Ms. Ross got the idea for the project after spending time in the facility with her son during his surgery. ‘We had to sit in a waiting room for about three hours and I thought the room we were in could use some brightening up.’ Students painted the walls with charming houses, flowers, fences, and rainbows. The students also brought donations of furniture, toys, and books to decorate the room. Ms. Ross continued, ‘We wanted parents and their children to have a happy, warm, and inviting place to relax while waiting. It was so much fun! The students took my idea and totally made it their own. I was so proud of them.’ Eleven students participated along with Ms. Ross. The students plan to complete their project this Saturday, October 9. Anyone wishing to donate items such as books, toys, or furniture may contact Ms. Leah Ross. All donations are appreciated!
