Painted Pumpkins

Through a community partnership with the Indian Trail Food Lion, Art Teacher Sarah Harlow has taught second graders to how to paint on different surfaces, particularly pumpkins.

Food Lion donated a pumpkin for each second grader for the project. This week second graders have been busy painting the pumpkins in their art classes with Harlow. Then the painted pumpkins will be returned to Food Lion next week.

Beginning on October 12th, the pumpkins will be on display at Food Lion and will be for sale to the public. The second grade artists and their parents are invited to a special open house to feature these pumpkins on Tuesday, October 12th from 7:00-8:00 p.m.

Bailey Robbins, a second grader in Jaime Pence's class, said "painting the pumpkins was kinda hard. It was messy but fun."
