Marshville ASP Visits
Marshville After School students enjoyed their first monthly walking field trip to the Edwards Memorial Public Library Tuesday, September 28th. The children enjoyed their first visit by celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. Kim Chambers read Martin the Beautiful Cockroach. This is a Cuban folktale that was retold by Carmen Agra Deedy and I Am Latino, The Beauty in Me by Sandra L. Pinkney. Then everyone participated in a Mexican hat dance as they played musical instruments and listened to Latino music. To wind up the visit they made Hispanic inspired drums that they decorated and were able to take home. It was a fun filled afternoon that the students will not soon forget!
