A First Visit to our Sister School

Kim Warr, Rob Jackson, and Tammy Nelson at the Nyhavn canal and waterfront in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The adventure has begun! Principal Rob Jackson, Assistant Principal Kim Warr, and English teacher Tammy Nelson are CHS representatives visiting Denmark this week in a sister school program through the Center for International Understanding in Chapel Hill. Cuthbertson High School’s sister school is Aarhus Katedralskole located in Aarhus, Denmark. As part of the program, Mr. Jackson, Ms. Warr, and Ms. Nelson will tour the cities of Copenhagen and Aarhus in Denmark and make their first visit to Aarhus Katedralskole. The purpose of the trip is to learn about Danish culture, history, and educational practices by touring the area and participating in sessions at the Danish Agency for International Education. Topics include primary and lower secondary education, Gymnasium programs, vocational education and training, national tests, objectives, standards, and teaching requirements. They are also attending sessions on good practices in international partnerships so we can begin developing opportunities for student and teacher travel, communication, and collaboration. The Danish Agency for International Education promotes and coordinates European, Nordic, and National programs and initiatives stimulating international student and teacher mobility and collaboration in education. They also disseminate information and support policy making concerning internationalization of education. We are very excited to begin this educational relationship with Aarhus Katedralskole!
