Partnership Supports Reading at Waxhaw

Students need book baggies to contain their self-selected readers as well as library books and even readers’ notebooks. Organizing the books helps to maximize time during reader’s workshop while also helping student transport books back and forth to school.
On a September afternoon, representatives from Hull & Associates visited Waxhaw Elementary to learn more about the purpose of the book baggies and to meet some of the students. Dr. Jim Hull, Dr. Turner Hull, and Andrea Sansom, clinical assistant, visited with Mrs. Rhoda Marx’s first grade class and a few other students in the media center. Marx’s class had recently written thank you notes to the group. The students shared their excitement about having the book baggies.
“The red bags help keep my books safe, “said Joseph Hernandez. Many other students had thoughts to share about the love of the book baggies.
Dr. Hull and associates enjoyed meeting the students and seeing them “in action” with their baggies. The students and staff are very appreciative of this important partnership.
