Porter Ridge ASP Supports Union County Animal Shelter
To focus attention on "Lights On Afterschool" at Porter Ridge ASP, Wendy Wilson, program coordinator, is taking a two-part approach--teaching the children about the proper care of pets and supporting the Union County Animal Shelter. On Monday, October 4, the children received a visit from Pat Raynor, an employee of the Animal Shelter. Raynor was accompanied by a canine friend (who was current on all vaccinations) to demonstrate the proper care for pets. Raynor also had a contact with the American Kennel Club who showed a video to the children illustrating what pets need from us and the care they need.
The presentation kicked off the drive to support the county animal shelter. For the remainder of October, Porter Ridge ASP will be accepting donations of pet food and supplies to benefit the Union County Animal Shelter. "The shelter is always in need of food, toys, collars, or leashes for the animals in the shelter," said Wilson. The shelter doesn't use canned food, so only dry dog, cat, kitten, or puppy food is requested. Wilson will deliver all donations to the shelter at the end of the month.
