Alyssa Berardelli is Miss Piedmont
The 51st Annual Miss Piedmont Pageant took place on October 16th and Alyssa Berardelli was crowned 2010 Miss Piedmont. The pageant theme this year was "Fashionista", with contestants opening the night with a fashion show and dance number centered around the LBD (Little Black Dress). Other winners were Miss Senior - Halie Scott; Miss Junior - Maggie VunCannon; Miss Sophomore - Carson Bell; Miss Freshman - Maddison Morton; Miss Congeniality - Caitlin Herlihy; and Miss Photogenic - Samantha Shillingburg. When asked how it felt to be crowned Miss Piedmont, Berardelli responded "I had a lot fun and it was very exciting to participate in the pageant but when they announced my name as Miss Piedmont, I was very honored."
Dr. George Pinsak sponsored the scholarships for both Miss Piedmont and Miss Senior and was also the guest of honor at Saturday's pageant. The pageant was sold out and a record 35 contestants participated in the event. Emily Briggs, 2010 graduate of Piedmont High School, served as emcee of the pageant. Entertainment was provided by Jamie Nader, who sang "Beautiful", and dancers from the Carolina Dance Company.
Plans are already underway for next year's pageant. Entry forms will be available beginning in Spring 2011. Any businesses wishing to sponsor next year's event should contact pageant director Teresa Briggs at 704-989-6544.
