Teacher of the Year
Each year, the staff at Union Elementary school have the responsibility of nominating candidates for Teacher and Teacher Assistant of the Year. Because we have such wonderful teachers at our school, that task is a difficult one. This year three teachers stood out above the crowd. Michelle Johnson, Karen Pipes, and Gerri Theirbach were nominated by their peers to represent Union as teacher of the year. All three candidates went through an interview and observation process. They were interviewed by other Union staff members and then were observed, teaching a lesson of their choice, by other UCPS employees. After both the interview and the observation, Michelle Johnson was chosen as our school representative.
Teacher Assistant of the year was chosen by votes from the Union staff. Linda Mangum and Lisa Stutts tied in the first vote, therefore a tiebreak vote was held. Lisa Stutts recieved the most votes in the tie breaker. Congratulations Michelle and Lisa! All of the teachers who were nominated should be proud of all of the hard work they have put into making Union Elementary School a success!
