Red Ribbon Week

We Won't Bee Caught Doing Drugs! Jessica Cosgrove's 2nd Grade Class

To celebrate being healthy, drug free and making good decisions, Poplin Elementary students showed their school spirit many ways during Red Ribbon Week. The end of October is usually when Red Ribbon Week is celebrated. It is a time to encourage children, families and communities to come to together by promoting safety, making healthy choices and staying drug free. Each day during the last week of October, students showed their support: Monday – Wear Red Day, Tuesday – Hat Day, Wednesday – Wacky Wednesday, Thursday – Poplin Spirit Day, and Friday was Book Character Day. Other ways students showed their support was by competing in a classroom door decorating contest. The theme of the contest was “to be drug free.” The winners of the door decorating contest were: 1st Place – Jessica Cosgrove’s 2nd Grade Class, 2nd Place – Suzanne Smith’s 1st Grade Class, 3rd Place –Shelley Gordon’s 3rd Grade Class, and Honorable Mention- Tess Lynch/Lucarelli’s 2nd Grade Class.
