UCPS Cluster Forums continue to engage local communities

Piedmont Cluster Forum members discuss the impact of the anticipated state, federal and local budget cuts on the Union County Public Schools. Pictured from left, are Stacey Query and Remona Griffin, both representing Piedmont Middle School. Also pictured are, third from right, Michelle Farrar and Donna Knight, both representing Unionville Elementary School, and Shannon Loucks, at right, representing Fairview Elementary School.

The second UCPS Cluster Forum was held recently at Piedmont High School, offering a dialog between parents and UCPS Superintendent Dr. Ed Davis.

The cluster forums are held the last Thursday of the month at one of the school system’s nine high school cluster groups. They are an effort by Davis to reach out to school and community stakeholders and engage in proactive dialogue about the school system.

There are two parents chosen in each of the system’s 53 schools, chosen by the principal of that school. The meetings last about an hour and a half and offer direct feedback to Davis from parents in the community.
