Veteran with a "Purple Heart"
Recently veterans from the VFW Post 2423 came to Stallings to talk to the students about their experience in the service and to instruct the students on the proper way to raise and lower the American flag and the proper way to fold it. While they were here, the students interviewed some of the veterans. One of the veterans that they interviewed had received a Purple Heart. His name is James B. Crump and he served in the Army with Company A 13th Infantry 8th Division in World War II. He served as a combat infantry man. He earned his Purple Heart when he was shot 3 times. He received the Bronze Star twice for valor. One thing that Mr. Crump wanted the students to always remember and understand is the value of freedom and what it takes to have it. Pictured below is Mr. James B. Crump.
