National Walk to School Day

On Wednesday, November 10th, 165 Marvin Elementary students celebrated Walk to School Day by walking and wheeling to school!   A high-energy group of parents and teachers greeted the children with festive music, balloons, prizes and enthusiasm.   It was a beautiful and crisp fall morning and it was wonderful to see so many families out encouraging physical activity and sharing some community spirit.  Special thanks to the deputies from the Union County Sheriff's Department for keeping everyone safe on the way to school and many thanks to Starbucks-Blakeney, The Bagel Bin and Dunkin' Donuts for providing fuel for all the parents accompanying their kids to school.  Also special thanks to the parent volunteers that helped put together such a fun and energetic morning for all!   Walking to school is fun, green, promotes physical activity and adds bonus family time to the day.   We look forward to Marvin Elementary's next Walk to School Day celebration!
